Dr Katharine Ayivor-Nygard
Founder & Clinical Director

Dr Katharine trained at the University of Nottingham and has worked in mental health for 20 years, including time spent in the NHS before moving into independent practice. She specialises in working with children and parents with needs ranging from the low end of distress to more complex presentations.

Dr Katharine is passionate about bringing Psychology out of the clinic and textbooks and into everyday life. She believes that there are so many evidence-based ideas that can be genuinely transformational, and is on a mission to positively change the lives of children, teens and parents, one family at a time.

Dr Katharine is a HCPC registered and BPS chartered Clinical Psychologist. She completed her doctoral training at the University of Nottingham.
Dr Katharine has since completed further training in a range of interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Introduction to Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) and assessment of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS 2).

Naya supports the practice with a thoughtful, compassionate approach rooted in developmental psychology and trauma-informed care. She holds a master’s degree from King’s College London and has experience working with neurodivergent children and young people with learning disabilities, both in therapeutic roles and within school SEND teams.
With a background that spans helpline services, creative mentoring, and community mental health projects, Naya brings a unique blend of clinical insight and creative energy to her work. She is particularly passionate about using creativity, connection and culturally sensitive practice to support emotional well-being.
At the heart of Naya’s work is a deep belief in the power of safe, respectful relationships to foster growth and healing.

Naya is interested in blending psychology and creativity, songwriting as a form of healing, community arts, supporting youth, yoga, live music, and meaningful conversations over coffee.

Naya holds an MSc in Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology from King’s College London and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with a Specialization in Health and Wellbeing from Trent University.
